How To Pull Out Gas Stove To Clean

[Help] Is it okay to pull this gas stove away from the wall, or should I get a National Grid person in here?

I'm in a bit of a Catch-22 where I want to pull the stove away from the wall to see what the situation is behind/underneath it, but I want to make sure the gas line situation is safe before I pull it away from the wall... and shining a flashlight down the back isn't telling me much... The ultimate goal is to find out what died back there that's making this awful smell, and hopefully clean it out.

I just cleaned behind mine! Just pull it about half a foot forward and look back there with a flashlight. There should be some flexible metal tubing connecting the gas. I found so many cat toys, it was an exciting day for everyone.

They are usually connected with a bit of flexible pipe, so you can pull it out with care.

One had mice making beds in the stove insulation, man that stunk

Fuckers got in three times last winter and just last week I fired up the broiler to be greeted with the stink of burning cat food.

Next weekend I'm pulling the stove out and tacking a square of hardware cloth on the back this time. Gonna stop that for good.

There should be enough line to pull it out or how else could they install it. Just pull it slowly and keep an eye out.

Just wasn't sure if there was a certain way to pull it out, or if you had to shut off the gas first, or what.

If nothing else, remove the bottom drawer and you can clean most of whatever out. Hope it helps.

Shut off should be accessible without pulling it out. Check for supply line in cabinet . If this isn't the case then you should have enough flex line to pull stove out from wall.

There will be at least enough room to unhook gas line if you want to move it out further than a few feet.

I can't see that the stove was fitted with it being in position. However if in doubt turn the gas off at the mains first. If you damage it you can then call a an engineer to fix.

I would at least find the shut off and be familiar with it ahead if time just in case

Like everyone else said, there SHOULD be more than enough for you to pull it out far enough for you to shut off the supply and disconnect it. Should being the big word there...
